Myron Billy “Bud” Roker, 101 of Glenwood, Iowa formerly of Clatonia, Nebraska went to be with the Lord October 25, 2024 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born August 19, 1923 in Clatonia, Nebraska to William Henry and Alma Adeline (Alpers) Roker. Myron graduated from high school in 1941 and completed two years at Milford Trade School. He faithfully served his country in the Army during WWII. The number 4 held a lot of significance to him during the war. He was in the 324th Infantry and the 44th Division. Myron was in combat for 204 days and went 144 days without a break from combat.
Myron was united in marriage to Viola H. Menninga on June 2, 1946 in rural Beatrice, Nebraska. To this union six children were born and one adopted. Myron was employed as a communication supervisor for Natural Gas Pipeline of America until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 141. He enjoyed woodworking and restoring furniture. In earlier years he and his family traveled and camped in their motor home. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceding Myron in passing were his parents, wife, son Donald Roker and a niece. Survivors include his children William (Pam) Roker of Nebraska City, Nebraska; Robert (Lisa) Roker of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Marlene (Larry) Turner of Pacific Junction, Iowa; Dennis (Teena) Roker of Glenwood, Iowa; Shari (Bob) Brown of Glenwood, Iowa; Kelly Roker of Glenwood, Iowa; 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister Joan Hodge of Ennis, Texas; many extended relatives and friends.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Myron’s family. It has been an incredible privilege to not only meet Myron, but to get to know him over the years through the 324th Veterans Organization. God bless you.
I only knew Myron Roker the past couple years and I was literally in awe of the man . Talked to him in his home learning about his military service and learning of this nation’s History inwhich he helped make this county what it is , I’m going to miss this man and brother we served the US Army decades apart we are still Brothers in arms . God Bless You My Brother !!!

Myron used to visit my classroom and talk to my students about his experiences in WWII. He was a wonderful person who will truly be missed.
Sorry to hear of Myron’s passing. Thank you Marlene for notifying me. I had the privilege of working with him in the 1970’s. He was a good man. My wife and I will keep him in our prayers.
Myron was the best foster dad I ever knew. He was kind, honest and gave kids a reason to reach for their potential when others gave up on them.
