Memorial gathering to be held Friday, October 1, 2021, 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Quarthouse Lounge and Grill, 20 N. Walnut Street, Glenwood, Iowa.
Nicholas Joseph Powers, 61 of Glenwood, Iowa formerly of Denison, Iowa passed away at his home in Glenwood September 23, 2021. He was born on August 13, 1960 in Denison to John Robert and Rita Elizabeth (Loew) Powers.
Nick graduated from Denison High School and moved to Glenwood over twenty years ago. He was employed at the Glenwood Resource Center until his retirement this past spring. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing. Nick was an avid Lakers and Chicago Bears fan. He loved hearing about his daughter and always asked for pictures of his granddaughter. Nick was known by his friends as “Nick at Night” and say he was a kind, caring man with a heart of gold.
He was preceded in passing by his parents and nephew Jeremy Swartz. Survivors include his daughter Brenna and husband Dustin Sturm; granddaughter Averly Sturm of Hamburg, Iowa; siblings John Powers of Denison, Iowa; Jim “Joker” Powers of Irwin, Iowa; Mary Ann and husband Deryan Mennis of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Patricia and husband Kenard Brown of Manning, Iowa; Tom and wife Sherry Powers of Irwin, Iowa; Gerri Ann and husband Keith Wagner of Manning, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Interment, St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery, Vail, Iowa at a later date.
Memorial donations may be directed to his daughter to help pay for final expenses.

Wish you could have made it to our last class reunion a few years ago in Harlan and Irwin Class of 78. Lots wanted him to show up since he went to school with us for several years in Irwin. My prayers are with your family.
