Philip Edward Tackett of Stockton, Missouri, formerly of Glenwood, Iowa passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at his home near Stockton, Missouri. Phil was born August 7, 1952 in Glenwood, Iowa to Ralph and Carolyn Tackett. Phil was raised in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1970.
Phil was retired from Mid-American Energy, and at the time of his death was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Bailey Quarries near Stockton, Missouri.
Phil was known as a gentle, kind-hearted man that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time on his farm and raising various animals, working to improve his land, always accompanied by his spoiled rotten, breakfast burrito eating Dachshund, Oscar.
Phil was a dedicated family man. Throughout his life, he gave of himself completely and selflessly to the needs of his children and parents. He cared deeply for each of his three children, and he took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, who referred to him affectionately as “Papa”. Phil was a devoted Christian who lived a quiet, unassuming faith, giving generously to several evangelical missions.
Phil is survived by his parents, Ralph and Carolyn of Glenwood, Iowa; Children Erin Henderson of Bolivar, Missouri, Brian Tackett and his wife Jaclyn of Glenwood, Iowa, and Lora Walker and her husband Pete of Bolivar, Missouri; nine grandchildren, David, Dominic, Micah, Bailey, Benjamin, Gideon, Olivia, Lucas, and Harvey; Sisters Twila of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Rosanne of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
