Priscilla “Polly” Hopp, 92, of Glenwood, IA entered into rest on Sept. 10, 2014 at Hillcrest Victoria Gardens in Bellevue, NE. She was the third child born on Oct. 3, 1921 to Walt & Bess Marshall. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1939 & received a two-year elementary teaching certificate from the University of Nebraska in 1941. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Bellevue, NE & third grade in Glenwood during WWII.
She married Donald K. Hopp of Glenwood in 1942 at Ellington Air Force Base right after he received his pilot wings. After he returned from WWII in 1945, they settled on the family farm east of Glenwood and raised three children, Donald K. Nancy and Michael.
After her husband’s death in 1981, Polly moved to Glenwood and was active in her community, church and with her family.
Preceding Polly in death were her parents, husband, brother Walt Marshall & sister Harriett Gross. Survivors include her children, Donald Hopp of Glenwood, IA: Nancy & husband Maris Vanags of New Port Beach, CA; Mike & wife Tami Hopp of Glenwood, IA: 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Congregational U.C.C. or Alzheimer’s Association.
