Ray Eichelberger, Jr.

Ray M. Eichelberger, Jr. 90, of Glenwood, IA entered into eternal rest on Jan. 10, 2012 in Council Bluffs, IA. He was born Sept. 23, 1921 in Mills County, IA to Ray Melo & Joyce (Worcester) Eichelberger. Ray graduated from Tabor High School in 1939. While in school, he was in the marching band and several plays. Ray began farming when he was in 8th grade and enjoyed this career throughout his lifetime.

Ray was on the board of directors for country schools. He attended Grace United Methodist Church. After retiring from farming, Ray loved being out on his mower and helping his neighbors with whatever farming project they needed assistance with. Ray had a special place in his heart for his Boston Terrier dogs throughout the years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Preceding Ray in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carol Eichelberger; children, Larry & Penny Eichelberger; Kay & Linus LeFever all of Glenwood, IA; Elaine & Larry Olson of Colorado Springs, CO; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Kenneth “Bud” Hammers and Betty Wolfe of Glenwood, IA; extended relatives and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Interment will be at a later date in the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.

    So sorry to hear about Ray’s passing. We enjoyed him when picking up or dropping off his lawn mower. He took such pride in his yard! We would like to extend our sincere sympathy to Carol and all the family.
