Richard E. “Dick” Buckley, 66 of Glenwood, IA entered into eternal rest on Sept. 26, 2012 in St. Louis, MO. He was born Sept. 10, 1946 in Earling, IA to Edward & Cecilia (Leinen) Buckley. He was baptized in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earling, IA where he later received his first communion and was confirmed. Dick attended St. Joseph Catholic Schools, graduating in 1964. He attended Commercial Extension now Nebraska School of Business. After being drafted in the Army, he spent 16 months in Germany as a teletype communications operator until he was honorably discharged in 1968.
Dick was united in marriage to Jane Marie Ohlinger on June 14, 1969 in Panama, IA. To this union two daughters were born, Jennifer and Brenda. He later attended Buena Vista University, graduating in 1986 with a degree in business with an emphasis on accounting. Dick was employed as an accountant with Empire Insurance. He was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a former member of the Parish and Finance Council. Dick was a Eucharistic minister as well as a member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus (Father O.L. Kaufman Council) and member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus (Archbishop Leo Arkfeld Council).
Dick was a diehard fan of Nebraska Husker football, Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals. You would often see him at St. Albert sporting events where he was also a school board representative for Glenwood. He enjoyed attending church socials and family gatherings. Dick was meticulous in taking care of his yard and loved polka dancing with Jane. Dick gave of himself during his life and continued giving after his death with an organ, eye & tissue donation to the Mid America Transplant Service.
Preceding Dick in death was his daughter, Jennifer Buckley; father, Edward Buckley; brothers, Ronald and Robert Buckley. He is survived by his wife, Jane Buckley of Glenwood, IA; daughter, Brenda Buckley and granddoggy, Allegra Buckley both of Fenton, MO; mother, Cecilia Buckley of Earling, IA; brothers, Russell Buckley of Earling, IA: Rex & wife Irene Buckley of Harlan, IA; sisters, Linda Buckley of Omaha, NE; LuAnn Buckley of Earling, IA; sister-in-law, Judy Buckley of Earling, IA; extended relatives and many friends.
Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Holy Rosary Church or St. Albert Catholic Schools in Council Bluffs, IA.

Dear Jane and family…Our prayers and deepest sympathy go out to you. Richie will be truly missed. Just remember that no matter how far away they go, they always remain close to our hearts, because they leave behind beautiful memories to cherish. Jane and family: We were so sorry to hear of Richie passing away. I will always cherish the memory of you guys coming to Alaska and sharing a meal with us. The last time I seen Richie was at the ballgame in Omaha and it was a great time which I will always remember. May God Bless all of you in your time of sorrow.
