Celebration of Life: Tuesday, May 14, 2019, 1:00 P.M., Holy Rosary Church, 24116 Marian Avenue, Glenwood, Iowa.
Richard Lee “Dick” DeLashmutt, 77 of Omaha, Nebraska formerly of Pacific Junction, Iowa and Glenwood, Iowa passed away at his home on May 10, 2019. Dick was born on March 13, 1942 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to William Clay and Naomi Faye (Vittitoe) DeLashmutt.
Dick was raised on the farm in Pacific Junction. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1960. Dick was a steward of the land by farming and growing large gardens. He always enjoyed being in the ag sector and watching the beautiful sunrises. Dick was a meticulous farmer who took great pride in having the straightest rows with not a weed to be found. In the early 1970’s Dick purchased the John Deere Dealership which he owned for 22 years. His next venture began in the insurance business. The grass never grew under his feet and one of his children commented that he did 250 years of work in 77 years.
Dick was united in marriage to Melissa Ann Miller on August 21, 2006 on Orcas Island, Washington. They resided in Glenwood before moving to Omaha. He loved his family, children and grandchildren unconditionally. Whenever you needed anything all it took was a phone call and he was there to help. Rest in peace until we meet again.
Preceding Dick in passing were his parents. Survivors include his wife Melissa DeLashmutt of Omaha, Nebraska; children Alicia DeLashmutt (Gary Sincick) and their daughter Neva of Portland, Oregon; Diana DeLashmutt (Janett Wingett) of Camano Island, Washington; Dr. Michael DeLashmutt (Julia) and daughters Naomi and Eliza of Manhattan Island, New York; Brayden and Cole DeLashmutt of Omaha, Nebraska; brother Tom DeLashmutt (Judy) of Glenwood, Iowa; sister Connie Phelps of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.
