Richard L. Leet, 79, of Glenwood, Iowa passed away December 12, 2005 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was born on a farm near Glenwood, Iowa to Tom and Wilda (Wickersham) Leet on February 26, 1926. He attended Glenwood Schools and served in U.S. Navy during WWII on the Submarines aboard the U.S.S. Trumpetfish. After the war was over, he was on the Trumpetfish which was one of the boats that chartered the waters around Alaska. He was stationed in Alaska and Hawaii. He attended Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL and worked for John Deere Co. as a Service Representative for 37 years, with territories in Western Iowa, and was transferred to Springfield, IL, where he serviced the territory across IL.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Glenwood and the First United Methodist Church in Springfield. When he retired, he moved back to Glenwood and returned to the First Baptist Church, which he dearly loved. He served as a trustee for the church for several years. Dick belonged to the American Legion Post in Council Bluffs for several years as well.

His favorite things to do were square dancing, fishing, hunting, camping and after retiring he joined several bicycle clubs and rode Ragbraii twice, Ohio and Louisiana one time each. He belonged to several camping clubs while living in IL. After moving to Glenwood he loved mowing lawns with his lawn tractor and building wood projects with Lyle Hanson. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends and had a special companion in his little dog Reilly, who loved to go riding and run errands with him.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Delbert, John, Verle and Walter and nephews Franklin and Bill Leet.

Survivors include his wife Jeanne (Hayes) Leet of Glenwood, IA; son, Rick and wife Terry Leet of Silver City, IA; sisters, Betty Powers of Phoenix, AZ; Ginnie Rhode of Glenwood, IA; Rose and husband Duane Kahl of Glenwood, IA; brother Lyle and wife Kathleen Leet of North Platte, NE; Grandchildren, Matthew Leet of Silver City, IA; Nathan Leet of Malvern, IA; Jaclyn Baker of Malvern, IA; April and Scott Maher of Wenzville, MO; Alicia and David Kenoyer of Raleigh, NC; 6 great grandchildren: Austin, Brayden, Faylynn Leet, Bailey Baker of Malvern, and Abigail and Isabella Kenoyer of Raleigh, NC; nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.
