Interment will be in the Rippey Cemetery, Rippey, Iowa at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Robert “Bob” Swaink, 74, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Silver City, Iowa, entered into eternal rest on March 10, 2011 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born May 10, 1936 in Malvern, Iowa to Otis Jesse & Dolly Regina (Strong) Swaink. He faithfully served his country in the Navy.
Bob was united in marriage to Glenda Lea Lape on June 19, 1960. They enjoyed forty years together until Glenda passed away February 14, 2001. Bob loved his job as a truck driver for Charlie Phelps hauling grain and livestock. He was a talented builder and was always keeping busy whether it was working on cars, singing karaoke or just having fun with family and friends. Bob enjoyed playing tricks on people to make them laugh. He participated in the Little Britches Rodeo, loved listening to country music and spending time outside. Bob was a member of the V.F.W. and Eagles.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents, wife, brothers, Ervin and Gary Swaink; brother-in-laws, Rolland Lisle and Albert Lape. He is survived by his children, Joyce & Fred Yost of Nebraska City, Nebraska; Rick Swaink of Lincoln, Nebraska; Mike & Trisha Swaink of Omaha, Nebraska; Owen Scott Swaink of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Kimberly K. & Rex Adair of Bedford, Iowa; Michel & Tom Emig of Eagleville, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Keith & Kate Swaink; Ethel & George Ward all of Riverton, Iowa; Verma & Lonnie Ward of Anderson, Iowa; Sharon & Charlie Hendrickson of Essex, Iowa; Carolyn & Dee Lee of Goodman, Missouri; sister-in-laws, Linda Lisle of Alden, Iowa; Kathy Swaink of Clarinda, Iowa; Roberta Lape of Waterloo, Iowa; companion, Mary Melaccaro of Council Bluffs, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.
