Roger Leon Stroud, 79 of rural Glenwood, Iowa passed away peacefully on July 27, 2023 at his home. He was born March 15, 1944 in Malvern, Iowa to Robert Leland and Alma (Murphy) Stroud. He grew up on a farm outside of Glenwood. During high school he joined the Navy Reserves. After graduating he faithfully served his country during Vietnam.
Roger married Carol Sue Stacy on May 5, 1971. He was the second generation to own and operate Stroud Pumping. He raised purebred Black Angus cattle as well as other livestock. He farmed and did custom baling. Roger worked several different jobs and could succeed at anything he set his mind to. He loved his cows, his family, and to travel the world from the sunroom chair. Roger was always witty and enjoyed telling stories. He ate ice cream with a fork and always had a toothpick in his mouth. Later in life, Roger took time to spend with his family. Roger and Carol enjoyed traveling and taking bus trips.

Survivors include his wife Carol Stroud; children Jeff (Marilyn) Fife; Jill (Chris) Kates and their son Dakota McAleer; Grant (Michelle) Stroud their daughter Sophia Stroud; Tammy Zienau; Dennis Anderson and children Rebecca Anderson and Stone Anderson; and 3 great-grandchildren; siblings Barbara (Harold) Kaiman; Kathie Cooper; Steve Stroud; many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

We have lost a good friend. Roger will be missed.
Sorry for you and yours with the loss of Roger. Prayers for comfort during this time of grieving.
Roger was a one of a kind and I enjoyed every visit we ever had. He had a great smile and welcoming mild manner about him. I want eternal peace for him, but I’m saddened I hadn’t made it to visit him in quite awhile.
Carol Sue, Grant, Michelle and family, you have my thoughts and prayers.
Everyone at our implement dealership always enjoyed seeing Roger stop by for parts, service, or for a new piece of equipment. He always took time for a visit – sharing stories or just visiting. So sorry to hear of his passing. Bruce and Mary Bracker
Sorry to here the news! Really enjoyed Roger over the years and will miss him. We won’t be able to come Saturday. Sending our prayers to Carol and the Family.
Roger was a great friend and classmate. Always smiling and quick with a comment. When ever the class of 1963 needed help with planning a float, Roger volunteered his loboy, tractor and hay bales then proudly hauled our ornery behinds around the square . RIP Rog, you will be missed.
We never met Roger but since he and I (Fran) were both born in Malvern he had to be a good guy!! However on that silly thought – I know he had to have had a good personality because we have utmost respect for his son Grant and his work ethic. Sorry for the loss of your mentor—–
Oh Carol, I’m so sorry to hear this. Many hugs to you and the family.
