Ronald L. Wheeler, 55 of Glenwood, IA entered into rest on March 22, 2014 in Glenwood. He was born June 11, 1958 in Hammond, IN to Carl L. & Donna R. (Twigg) Wheeler. He graduated from South Page High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Northwest Missouri State. Ron was employed with Mutual of Omaha for 26 years then worked at Central States of Omaha until his health no longer permitted.
Ron was united in marriage to Debra L. Gutschenritter on June 23, 1990 in Shenandoah, IA. To this union two sons were born, Kyle Lee Wheeler and Braden Lee William Wheeler. The family resided in Omaha before moving to Glenwood in 1998. Ron had a passion for coaching many sports for the youth in Glenwood and continued his support by following as many games and events as he could. He was well rounded and talented in many ways. He was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Ron had a strong passion and love for his family and was devoted to helping others. He exemplified the skills to help not only youth succeed, but parents as well. Ron had the ability to be a role model that many people respected. He always tried to get kids involved and went the extra mile to provide whatever was needed. Ron did things in a quiet way not expecting any special recognition. He worked diligently to get the YMCA and the new high school built. He was on the YMCA of Greater Omaha Board of Directors, YMCA Mills County Board, Southwest Iowa Community of Betterment Association and assisted with the bond issue for the new high school. Ron’s efforts will not go unnoticed and he will forever be remembered as an individual who made a difference in the many lives he touched. May he rest in peace until we meet again.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Carl Wheeler and in-laws, Delmus & Pat Gutschenritter. Survivors include his wife, Debra Wheeler, sons, Kyle Wheeler & Braden Wheeler, mother, Donna Wheeler all of Glenwood, IA; extended relatives and many friends.
