Russell George Crouch, 88, of Glenwood, Iowa entered into eternal rest on September 8, 2006 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was born September 1, 1918 to George Adelbert & Otellie (Tuchenhagen) Crouch in Mills County, Iowa. Russell attended West Liberty #1 country school. He and his brothers worked hard on the farm alongside their father. They broke sod, planted corn, shucked corn by hand and put in hay. They also cared for the livestock which included a special team of horses named Nig and Prince.
In the spring of 1937, Russell met Frances Evelyn Plumb and they joined the First Christian Church in Glenwood on September 19, 1938. A week later they were baptized. On September 22, 1940, Russell and Frances went to the parsonage of the Methodist Church where the Rev. H.G. Parker united them in marriage. To this union one daughter Sharon was born on June 21, 1942. In 1966, the family built a new house just east of the old one and in 1967, Russell purchased 75 acres of Tom White’s farm land which adjoins their farm. Russell loved farming and raising livestock for many years. He also enjoyed traveling with his family.
Preceding Russell in death were his parents, daughter Sharon on Jan. 19, 1982, wife Frances on Aug. 5, 1999, brother Albert William Crouch, sister, May Lucille Boyce, two nephews, Marvin Boyce and Donald Plumb. He is survived by brother Kenneth & wife Betty Crouch of Glenwood, IA; sister-in-law, Theo Seddon of Glenwood, IA; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
