Sheila Ann Vrbka, 75, of Glenwood, IA, formerly of Pierce, NE, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 20, 2009 in Omaha, NE. She was born Nov. 16, 1934 in Trethomas, Wales Great Britain to Maurice and May (Salmon) Fell. Her family courageously survived the Battle of Britain during the Blitz. Following her education, Sheila met her future husband Larry while he was serving in the Air Force in England. The two were united as one on December 31, 1955 in Stopsley Luton, England. To this union two children were born, Paul and Catherine. She truly enjoyed being a homemaker. The family later moved to the United States where Sheila became a citizen, however, she remained proud of her English heritage and traditions. Her family and friends will lovingly remember her saying, “It’s time for a lovely cup of tea!”
While living in Pierce, NE Sheila was a devoted member of Right to Life, Pierce County Historical Society, St. Joseph Women’s Altar Society. In 1998, Larry and Sheila moved to Glenwood and joined the Holy Rosary Church where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and volunteered in many other capacities. She was also a member of Friends of the Library and loved reading British and Victorian novels. Sheila cherished her granddaughters and had a passion for her dog Maddie. She will be fondly remembered by the many lives she touched.
Preceding Sheila in death were her parents and sister, Jean Cole. She is survived by her husband, Larry Vrbka of Glenwood, IA; son, Paul & wife Peg Vrbka of York, NE; Cathy & husband David Webster of Glenwood, IA; granddaughters, Chelsea Webster and Abby Brown; extended relatives and a host of friends.
