Shirley Ann Bachler Bolton of Glenwood, Iowa passed away at the age of 78 on the 27th of September, 2013 in the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska surrounded by many loved ones. The funeral will be held on October 1, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Glenwood, Iowa. Bishop Jacob will be officiating. The burial and dedication of the grave, which will follow, will be at the Tabor Cemetery, done by Ron Forney. The family visitation will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Glenwood. Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
Shirley was the daughter of Phillip Bachler and Beulah Bennett. She was born on the 2nd of July, 1935 in Tabor, Iowa, where she lived most of her growing up years. She labored as a farm girl alongside her family beginning at a very young age. In high school, she was involved in basketball, marching band, as well as the baton twirlers. She was married to Glen Bolton on the 2nd of September, 1953, in Glenwood, Iowa. She raised 4 children and worked until the very end of her life, despite numerous health issues. Her passions involved knitting, genealogy, service, temple work, gardening, and most of all, watching over and taking care of her family.
She is survived by sisters, Jean Baggs of Tabor, Iowa and Dolores (Ron) Forney of De Kalb, Illinois. Her daughter, Lou Timson (Dave) of Glenwood, sons Terry Bolton of Eagle River, Alaska, Kurtis Bolton (Shawna) Glenwood, and Paul Bolton of Springfield, Missouri. Also survived by 12 grandchildren; Devon, Meghanne, Chelsey, Keegan, Mara, Cassi, Cody, Dustin, Demi, Brian, Zachary and Ashley, as well as 7 great-grandchildren; Maicee, Jocelynn, Nathan, Skyler, Teaghan, Savanah and Braydon. Welcomed with open arms in the hereafter by husband Glen Bolton, her parents, sister Phyllis Patrick, daughter-in-law Janet Bolton and grandson Derik Bolton.
Shirley was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served a two-year mission in Chicago, Illinois, as well as a family history mission in St. George, Utah. She was a wonderful mother of four children and devoted her life to the service of her family and others. Her family was her greatest joy. She will be greatly missed.
