Steven J. Schmitz, age 54, of Silver City passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Steven was born on March 27, 1964 to Robert and Elaine (Biwer) Schmitz in Waterloo, Iowa. He married Kathy Wolff in September of 1987. Steven was a Mechanical Engineer for Acieta in Council Bluffs, Iowa and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola.
Steven was preceded in death by his father Robert Schmitz, and sister, Danielle Schmitz.
Steven is survived by his wife Kathy Schmitz of Silver City, Iowa; mother Elaine Schmitz of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; children, Billie (Jason) Barnes of Sparta, Tennessee, Timothy Fisher of Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandchildren, Raegan and Cassidy Barnes; brothers, Vincent (Kristy) Schmitz of New London, Minnesota, Theodore (Lesley) Schmitz of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; sisters, Doris Brunnett of Norwalk, Iowa, Diane (Derek) Griffith of Bondurant, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Interment, Mineola Cemetery, Mineola, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, Mineola, Iowa.

Sorry for your loss. Steve was a great man and his support to me throughout the years, with be never forgotten!

Kathy, I was so sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. I know he fought a valiant fight. Prayers and thoughts for you and your family!
Ted, I am so sorry for your loss of your brother. I cannot imagine what you are going thru at this time but with the Lord’s help and guidance he will lessen the hurt. Praying for you and your family for peace Ted.
Billie, I am sorry for the loss of your father. May you and your mother and the rest of your family find comfort in the memories you have of Steve.
Kathy, I didn’t get to know Steve like many of the others, but I did get to work with him a few times and it was always a pleasure. He was a professional and highly regarded. He helped me several times when I was in a pinch and always gave me good advice. The results of his work were apparent on the floor and have helped build Acieta’s great reputation. My wife Roxy and have you and your family in our thoughts.
