Steven Schade of Round Rock, Texas, formerly of Glenwood, Iowa passed away on August 5, 2017 in Round Rock, Texas. He was the son of Donald and Betty Schade and is survived by his daughter Bobbi Kay of Austin, Texas, mother Betty of Glenwood, brothers David (Sue) of Eagle River, Alaska, Gary of Bellevue, Nebraska, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-niece, and long time friend Gwen King of Round Rock, Texas. Please join the family for a reception to celebrate and share memories of Steve’s life.
Steven was born March 21, 1952 at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, during the BLIZZARD of 1952 which led to the great Missouri River flood of ’52. He weighed in at 10 lbs. 10 oz. so had a head start in life. He slept the night through after 3 or 4 nights at home.
Steven was baptized on March 29, 1953 at the Glenwood Grace United Methodist Church. His father Don was baptized the same day and mother Betty transferred her membership. In May of 1964, at the age of 12, Steve was confirmed and joined the church.
He grew up in Glenwood, Iowa with life full of pets from dogs to ducks, summer baseball, bikes, paper routes, swimming, snow ball fights, tree climbing, family vacations, lawn mowing, enjoying friendship with Ken Cook, even going on vacations with Ken’s family.
School years were packed with football, baseball, track and wrestling and being awarded the 1970 Glenwood High Athlete of the Year. He played football two years and wrestled one year at Dana College, managed the Glenwood swimming pool and was swim team coach.
Steve attended the Iowa Police Academy and was on the Glenwood Police Department at the same time his brother Dave was a Mills County Deputy Sheriff.
All three Schade boys worked with their Dad at the Schade Automotive Garage.
Activities Steve enjoyed through the years were horseback riding, team roping, weight lifting, boxing, golf, motorcycle trips with Ken, Dave, Gary or Teresea, fishing, cooking especially his holiday turkeys, gardening, raising and dressing chickens for the freezer, woodworking, gun collecting and most recently, long range shooting.
Steve and Teresea Timson were married January 6, 1978. They later separated but have remained friends.
He was drawn back to police work and joined the force in Atlantic, Iowa and was later Chief of Police there. Their daughter Bobbi Kay was born in Atlantic.
Next, they moved to sunny Texas away from the hated snow and cold. Hello Hutto and Round Rock. After a time as a gas company meter reader, Steve began his career with Classic Auto Group. Over the years that company has grown and is currently owned by the Penske Automotive Group. Steve was the Project Manager and the “go to” guy over the many agencies there in Texas until a few weeks before his death.
Through the years Steve was always there to help Gary and Dave when needed and in the end, the last few weeks, they were able to be there by his side. It was truly a blessing.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Donald Roy Schade. He is survived by his daughter Bobbi Kay of Austin, Texas; mother Betty of Glenwood, Iowa; brothers David (Sue) of Alaska and Gary of Nebraska; nieces Brandy and Sarah, nephews Trevor and Mike; great nephews Ranon and Kaler; great niece Leah and longtime friend Gwen King of Round Rock, Texas.
All of Steve’s life he gave 100% whether on the ball field, at work or to help family and friends. He will be missed by so many.
Memorials are suggested to the Relay For Life or the American Cancer Society.

Steve (Mr. Schade) , was a great man. He was someone I looked up to and highly respected . He was a positive figure for me at a young age.. Ot was as if he knew I needed that, which I did. Though I am only now learning of his passing now he has always been a person I have thought of many times since knowing him., because he did make an impact in my life.
To Bobbi and the rest of the Schade family, my condolences, and my thoughts and prayers are with you . Though the years pass it still is a void. Memories are the most priceless paintings in the world. So hold onto those paintings he painted for so many.
Love and Prayers!
Jeremy Wilkinson and family
he has been an influence I have thought of ever since meeting him.
