Enjoyed Tim’s sense of humor, and quick wit. He cared deeply for his girls, and was proud of their accomplishments.

Guys I can’t begin to express how much this news has saddened me. Tim was such a wonderful person and a big memory from my childhood, as well as a joy to run into as I’ve grown. My family and I send our prayers out to you all now and in the days and years to come. Hold those memories close as they will be what gets you through all I this. Love you all

Tim has been my friend since we started kindergarten, sixty years. His wry sense of humor and wise counsel will be missed. Prayers for his family.

Tim was my first boyfriend many, many years ago and always a good friend. Seeing him was always like going home again. I’ll miss him. He had a way of cutting through the pretenses of life and telling it like it was. My condolences to all who loved him.

Oh, Tim, I haven’t seen you in so long, yet I miss you so much now that I’ve learned of your passing. I loved your sense of humor. We had a lot of laughs when you worked for the county. Rest in peace, my friend. We’ll meet again someday.

Celine and Katrina: Our family shares in your loss of your father and our friend Tim Markel. Sam shot trap for many years with Tim at both local and competitive events. We have enjoyed our friendship over the years and sharing a glass of wine on numerous occasions. He was an “Icon” in the community and will be missed by many who called him “friend”. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. We are so sorry for your loss.

    Katrina, Celine and Carol,

Just wanted to let you know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I was so surprised and saddened by the news of Tim’s passing! Like all that have expressed words before me, it was his wry, dry wit and personality — to really get it and appreciate it — you had to know him to get some of the underlying nuances! The Markels were one of those families before me, in church, work, and community, that were always there…He always knew me–never went by without speaking, or commenting on my family or his…you girls were so very dear to him! You will continue to make him proud I am sure! I am sorry that I will not be able to make the services, but I did want you all to know that you are in my heartfelt prayers and thoughts.

Tim was such a one of a kind man, full of laughter, friendship and of course his unique sarcasm I grew to understand and enjoy! I spoke with him often while working in town, and then every time we were home for a visit, I would run into him ~ he always had a compliment and then a joke for me!

He loved his daughters and was very proud of them!

Katrina, Celine and Carol I am sorry for your loss. Please take care of each other.

    Jan (Jo) and Danny Fultz
