Verda Mae Stavas, 74, of Glenwood, Iowa, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 25, 2010 at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood. She was born Sept. 23, 1936 in Shenandoah, Iowa to Frank & Flora (Coon) Whitehill. Verda was raised in Tabor graduating from Tabor High School in 1954. She earned her teaching degree from Northwest Missouri State.

Verda was united in marriage to Leo Thomas Stavas in Columbus, Nebraska. To this union two children were born, Marty and Jeanna. The family resided in Sioux City until relocating to Glenwood in 1978. Verda was a member of Holy Rosary Church. Her life was dedicated to her faith, family and friends. She enjoyed eating good food and always looked forward to visits from her family and friends.

Preceding Verda in death were her parents, husband and three sisters, Erma Whitehill, Jean Lorimor and Arlene Ewalt. She is survived by her children, Marty & wife Julie Stavas and their sons, Jonathon and Nicholas of Glenwood, Iowa; Jeanna Stavas of Nebraska City, Nebraska; siblings, Joyce Shilling; Helen Morrical; Frank “Bud” Whitehill, Jr. all of Tabor, Iowa; Phyllis “Mick” Whitehill of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Jeanette Plumb of Scottsdale, Arizona; Richard “Dick” & wife Sharon Whitehill of Tabor, Iowa; twin sister, Veda & husband Richard Flint of Glenwood, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.
