Waneta Earlene (North) Havener, 84, resident of Fort Myers, Florida and Fort Dodge, Iowa passed away with her three daughters by her side on August 25, 2021 in Fort Dodge. She was born on July 23, 1937 in Noble, Missouri to Ernest and Ollie (Stone) North.  Waneta graduated from Glenwood High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Wayne Jones and to this union three daughters were born, Rebecca, Tamara and Sherri. The couple was self-employed in the furniture business for many years and Waneta ran the business office and did the bookkeeping. She lived in Fort Dodge for ten years before relocating to Fort Myers seeking retirement.  Nearly forty years after high school she was reunited with her first high school date, Melvin Havener.  They were inseparable and united in marriage on August 28, 1997 in Fort Myers. They enjoyed traveling and loved life, family and friends. They returned to Glenwood for many years to enjoy Homecoming celebrations until their health no longer permitted.  

Preceding Waneta in passing were her parents, husbands Wayne and Melvin, brothers Jay North and Ernie North; sisters Veda Finchem and Donna Miller. Survivors include daughters Rebecca (Tim) Henderson of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Tamara (Tom) Widen of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Sherri (John) Rozzi of Fort Myers, Florida; grandchildren Nicolas, Kathrine, Amber, Thomas, Amanda, Nick and Gianna; several great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter; brother Ronny (Joann) North of Calico Rock, Arkansas; sister-in-law Deanne North of Glenwood, Iowa; sister-in-law Rena North of Peoria, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

A true matriarch, Waneta relished her role as Mother and Grandmother, and was known for her bright smile, infectious laugh and ability to light up every room.  Services will be held to honor Waneta on Friday, September 10th, 11am at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood.

Interment, Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.

    Sending Prayers for strength and comfort to you all. I love you.. Aunt Waneta lit up a room. Her sparkling eyes, her big SMILE, That laugh. Just her sweet voice. Aunt Waneta we love you so much. I have so many great memories growing up. I will cherish them forever ❤
