William Eddie Jensen, also known as “Wild Bill”, 69 of Glenwood, Iowa, entered into rest at his home in Glenwood. He was born Jan. 21, 1938 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Sober Edward and Flossie (Palmerton) Jensen. Bill met Charlotte Jean Ahrens on in 1977 and the couple were united in marriage on Jan. 21, 1982.
Bill was a retired from the Glenwood Resource Center as a resident treatment worker and developed a lasting relationship with fellow employees and residents. He served in the National Guard from 1955-57. He attended the Salvation Army. When Bill was able, he attended Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends. Collecting rocks from wherever he vacationed was one of his favorite hobbies. Bill enjoyed his flower beds in the springtime and would put numerous Christmas decorations up each year. He would climb the roof to put the finishing touches on with Santa and his reindeer. When Bill and his family would travel they enjoyed going to North Dakota and down to New Mexico as well as the Oregon coast lines. On one particular vacation to Arizona, Bill sang “On the Road Again, which put the entire family to sleep. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face.
In 1997, Bill was diagnosed with throat cancer and through many treatments of chemo, he overcame the disease. Bill thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren coming over to visit. He would take Blake and LaShawn to the park to feed the ducks and they would also go horseback riding together. Going to the demo derby with Luke and Willie and the wild wrestling matches were always a fun time. Charlotte would still let Bill take the wheel in the car when they would take a ride in the country. Family gatherings with all of the great food and fun were enjoyed by everyone.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Harry, sister Becky and infant son William Eddie Jensen, Jr. He is survived by his wife Charlotte Jensen of Glenwood, IA; children; William Jensen of Glenwood, IA; Luke Jensen of Glenwood, IA; Edward Jensen of Sidney, IA: Larry Jensen of Sidney, IA; Robbie Stark of Sidney, IA; Todd Jensen of Carter Lake, IA; Kathy Rae Jensen of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren; Blake Jensen, LaShawn Jensen, Michael Jensen, Todd Jensen, Jr., Zachary Jensen, Vanessa Jensen, Nolan Jensen, Jayden Jensen, and Hunter Yochum; several other relatives and a host of friends.
