I am so sorry to hear about Ricks passing. I was his classmate and wished he would have kept in touch.

My heart breaks for the family of “Homer”. I feel that someone needs to honor this man by telling who he was. He was raised in Glenwood. He joined the US Navy during the Vietnam war and was a crane operator on the ship He went to school to be a parts manager. He went to school to be a welder and worked for TTX. He moved to Irving Tx in 1986 and became a supervisor for SFUP railroad. He was a loyal friend and is family and friends were his priority. He was preceeded in death by his father Winston Holmes, his sister, Kathy Laars His daughter Tracey Holmes and his mother Jacqualine Holmes. He is survived by his brother Steven Holmes, his sister Candace Huff, his step son Chad Cooke his step daughter Mikki Brown and his 4 grandchildren. May God Bless his family and friends for this great loss.

It was such a shock that Rick passed away. The past 4 years he hAd been doing great, his life was turning around, he was working out to be healthy and getting out and about more. I talked to him weekly and saw him a few times a month and he was happy! I love this man with all my heart and he didn’t want a funeral or to be put in the ground but I do think he deserves some type of send off!!! He was a great man and a very loyal one with honor and respect for those he loved!

Even tho his wishes aren’t being honored he knows we all tried, including Steve and Jeff. I am so very sorry for the families loss. He will be missed and always in our hearts!

    Love you Homer!!!!
