Wayne Keith

William Wayne Keith, 88, of Glenwood, IA entered into eternal rest on Oct. 23, 2012 in Council Bluffs, IA. He was born on February 2, 1924 in Garden City, KS to Henry Guy & Esther Ann (Williams) Keith. Wayne graduated from Glenwood High School in 1942. He faithfully served his country in the Navy during WWII from 1944-46. Following his discharge he was united in marriage to Alene Julaine Stivers in Glenwood, IA. To this union four daughters were born, Linda, Nancy, Vanessa and Marcia.

Wayne was a farmer enjoying country life along with Alene. Their pond Waylene was named to represent each of their names. The family had many gatherings there throughout the years. They enjoyed traveling and spent the winters in Arizona. Alene became ill and passed away in 2000. Several years later, Wayne was united with Dorothy Irene (Wiseman) Riggenbach on June 26, 2003 in Glenwood, IA. Their combined families continued to create fond memories for many years.

Wayne was a member of the First Christian Church where he was an Elder. He belonged to A.S.C.S., MAPA Board, Glenwood Sr. Center and was on the Board of Supervisors for 8 years. Wayne was the founder of the Country Cousins 4-H Club. His kind and gentle spirit will be greatly missed.

Preceding Wayne in death were his parents, wife, Alene; siblings and spouses, Vera & Ferdinand Boyce; Fern & Bill Swisher and Dwight Keith. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Keith of Glenwood, IA; daughters, Linda & husband Neil Goos of Glenwood, IA: Nancy & husband Vaughn Bennett of Mesa, AZ; Vanessa & husband Terry Marshall of Glenwood, IA; Marcia Keith and partner, Marie Payton of Crescent, IA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen & husband Clarence Boles, Jr.; sister-in-law, Loraine Keith of Glenwood, IA; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Bill & Delores Stivers of CA; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.

Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, American Legion Post 141 or the Glenwood Sr. Center.

    We are so sorry for your loss. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this hard time. Take comfort in knowing that he is walking with Jesus now. We didn’t get to spend much time with him, but in the few times we did he made us feel very welcome and we know he was special man.
